Richelle Akimow loves the hospitality industry, has been working in it since she was 16 years old, and has never left. She loves the humans in hospitality who give so much of themselves for others; their creativity, their passion, their innovation, and their deliciousness. Richelle has been with Gordon Food Service in British Columbia for 21 years and has been the General Manager since 2022.
Richelle brings a wealth of experience and passion for ensuring that Gordon Food Service is a positive contributor to the culture of the hospitality community as a whole, not only with the diverse clientele served by GFS but also the diverse team that works for the organization. Her leadership skills have been honed through years of managing teams in fast-paced environments, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional customer service but her passion is the development and elevation of the people around her. Richelle is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and empowering work culture that values diversity of thought, where every team member is valued, supported and encouraged to help shape the future of the organization with their ideas.
Richelle is deeply committed to supporting women in the food industry, advocating for equality and representation at all levels of the industry. In an effort to pay forward the support she has received throughout her career, Richelle serves as a mentor for many incredible women with aspirations of leadership through the GVBOT, YELL Canada and Gordon Food Service and finds immense joy in that.
